Volunteer Resources

Volunteer Opportunities

SBYSL has many opportunities for volunteers, from middle and high school students working on their community service hours, to adults who want to support the game of soccer. We need coaches, assistant coaches, and referees, but also greatly value the "behind the scenes" skills that you may have to offer with planning, communications, web design, scheduling, uniform distribution, field maintenance, or anything else!

Please use our online contact form to tell us about yourself and your volunteering interests. Thanks!

Background Checks

All SBYSL coaches must pass a background check conducted by JDP. You will receive an email from a league representative requesting basic information to initiate the process. Please respond quickly.

Training

All SBYSL coaches must complete the CDC's "Heads Up" Concussion Training. Please click here to access the 30-minute training session. In addition, all SBYSL volunteers must read and adhere to the league's concussion policy.

All SBYSL coaches must review the Abuse Prevention Code of Conduct and certify that they have reviewed it and will comply with all provisions. The Abusive Prevention Systems phone number is 1-817-737-SAFE (7233).

All SBYSL coaches are highly encouraged to to take the US Soccer Federation’s Introduction to Grassroots Coaching course (free, 20 minutes) and the appropriate online Grassroots Coaching training course for their age group (i.e., 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, or 11v11) ($26, 2 hours). SBYSL will reimburse the cost of the online course. Simply email the league Treasurer to get your reimbursement.
